1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. SCHOOL TRANSIT PASSES; APPROPRIATION.
1.6(a) This section applies if legislation is enacted in the 2013 legislative session
1.7authorizing a new sales and use tax in the metropolitan area, or in a substantially similar
1.8geographic area, and the tax is imposed.
1.9(b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, $2,500,000 is annually appropriated to
1.10the Metropolitan Council from the revenues identified in paragraph (a) for a portion of
1.11the costs of Metropolitan Council programs to provide passes for regular route service
1.12under an agreement with a school district.
1.13EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2013.
1.14 Sec. 2. REVISOR'S INSTRUCTION.
1.15If the legislation identified in section 1, paragraph (a), is enacted, the revisor of
1.16statutes shall codify section 1, paragraph (b), as Minnesota Statutes, section 473.408,
1.17subdivision 11.
1.18EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2013.
