1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. [135A.012] HIGHER EDUCATION ATTAINMENT GOAL.
1.7It is the goal of the state that by 2020 at least 75 percent of state residents at age
1.825 have attained a postsecondary degree or certificate. The goal is necessary so that the
1.9people of the state have the necessary training to obtain the jobs that will be available in
1.102020 and so that employers will have a sufficient number of qualified employees.
1.11 Sec. 2. OFFICE OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND GOVERNOR'S
1.12WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL.
1.13The director of the Office of Higher Education, in consultation with the chair of the
1.14governor's Workforce Development Council, shall develop recommendations to achieve
1.15the goal for higher education attainment set by Minnesota Statutes, section 135A.012.
1.16The recommendations must be submitted by January 15, 2012, to the chairs and ranking
1.17minority members of the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction over higher
1.18education and workforce development.
