1.2relating to housing; providing grants to promote the safety and welfare of East
1.3African women in Minnesota; appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION.
1.6$....... is appropriated in fiscal year 2014 from the general fund to the Minnesota
1.7Housing Finance Agency for a grant to an East African women's organization to promote
1.8the health and safety of East African women and children in Minnesota and provide
1.9services to East African women who are first generation immigrants from East African
1.10countries and their children. The program must provide safe housing for victims of abuse
1.11and trafficking as well as assistance accessing the health care system. The program must
1.12provide educational resources to help prevent the exploitation of East African women and
1.13children in Minnesota. The program shall provide shelter services and health and human
1.14rights education to promote the empowerment and provide culturally appropriate services
1.15to East African women in Minnesota.
