1.2relating to health; requiring MinnesotaCare coverage of private duty nursing,
1.3nursing home or intermediate care facilities, and personal care attendant services;
1.4requiring the commissioner of health to coordinate federal home health aides
1.5certification in underserved areas;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section
1.6256L.03, subdivision 1.
1.7BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.8 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 256L.03, subdivision 1, is amended to read:
1.9 Subdivision 1. Covered health services. "Covered health services" means the
1.10health services reimbursed under chapter 256B, with the exception of inpatient hospital
1.11services, special education services,private duty nursing services, adult dental care
1.12services other than services covered under section256B.0625, subdivision 9 , orthodontic
1.13services, nonemergency medical transportation services,personal care assistance and case
1.14management services, nursing home or intermediate care facilities services, inpatient
1.15mental health services, and chemical dependency services.
1.16 No public funds shall be used for coverage of abortion under MinnesotaCare
1.17except where the life of the female would be endangered or substantial and irreversible
1.18impairment of a major bodily function would result if the fetus were carried to term; or
1.19where the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.
1.20 Covered health services shall be expanded as provided in this section.
1.21 Sec. 2. COORDINATION OF CERTIFIED HOME HEALTH AIDES.
1.22The commissioner of health shall coordinate with the federal Center for Medicaid
1.23Services, or other appropriate federal agency, to coordinate the certification of home
2.1health aides under contract with the federal government to provide services in underserved
2.2areas of the state.
