1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to elections; authorizing certain persons who are 17 years old to vote
1.3in a primary; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 201.014, by adding a
1.4subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 201.014, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8    Subd. 1a. Voting in primary. (a) Notwithstanding the requirement in subdivision 1,
1.9clause (a), an individual who meets all other eligibility requirements may vote in a primary
1.10in order to select the candidates who will be on the general election ballot if the person
1.11will be 18 years of age at the time of the general election.
1.12(b) The ballot provided to an individual authorized to vote under paragraph (a) must
1.13be prepared so that the individual may vote only for the candidates seeking nomination for
1.14office, and not for any question or proposition.
