1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to education finance; authorizing a grant for The Works Museum;
1.3appropriating money;amending Laws 2013, chapter 116, article 9, section
1.41, subdivision 2.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Laws 2013, chapter 116, article 9, section 1, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
1.7    Subd. 2. Department. (a) For the Department of Education:

1.11Any balance in the first year does not cancel but is available in the second year.
1.12(b) $260,000 each year is for the Minnesota Children's Museum.
1.13(c) $41,000 each year is for the Minnesota Academy of Science.
1.14(d) $50,000 each year is for the Duluth Children's Museum.
1.15(e) $75,000 in fiscal year 2015 is for The Works Museum for hands-on science,
1.16technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.
1.17(f) $618,000 each year is for the Board of Teaching. Any balance in the first year
1.18does not cancel but is available in the second year.
1.19(f) (g) $167,000 each year is for the Board of School Administrators. Any balance in
1.20the first year does not cancel but is available in the second year.
1.21(g) (h) The expenditures of federal grants and aids as shown in the biennial budget
1.22document and its supplements are approved and appropriated and shall be spent as
1.23indicated.
1.24(h) (i) None of the amounts appropriated under this subdivision may be used for
1.25Minnesota's Washington, D.C. office.
2.1(i) (j) $250,000 each year is for the School Finance Division to enhance financial
2.2data analysis.
2.3(j) (k) $750,000 in fiscal year 2014 only is for departmental costs associated with
2.4teacher development and evaluation. Any balance in the first year does not cancel and
2.5is available in the second year.
2.6EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
