1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state government; establishing legislator premiums for the state
1.3employee group insurance program;amending Minnesota Statutes 2012, section
1.443A.24, by adding a subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 43A.24, is amended by adding a
1.7subdivision to read:
1.8    Subd. 2a. Premiums for legislators. If a legislator chooses to participate in the
1.9state employee group insurance program, the monthly premium to be paid by the legislator
1.10for individual coverage is ten percent of the total premium for individual coverage, and for
1.11dependent coverage 15 percent of the total premium for dependent coverage. However, a
1.12legislator must pay the monthly amount of the required employee premiums under the
1.13commissioner of management and budget's plan for unrepresented state employees if
1.14those premiums are higher than the rates set in this subdivision.
1.15EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2013.
