1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to transportation; establishing skyway access requirements for stations
1.3on the Central Corridor light rail transit line.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. CENTRAL CORRIDOR LIGHT RAIL TRANSIT; STATION
1.6ACCESSIBILITY.
1.7(a) For purposes of this section:
1.8(1) "council" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes, section 473.121,
1.9subdivision 3; and
1.10(2) "pedestrian skyway system" has the meaning given in Minnesota Statutes,
1.11section 469.125, subdivision 4.
1.12(b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, for any transit station on the Central
1.13Corridor light rail transit line that includes, as part of the initial transit line construction
1.14project, construction or establishment of access to a pedestrian skyway system, the council
1.15shall ensure that public access to the pedestrian skyway system is provided by an elevator
1.16located at the site of the station.
1.17(c) The council shall meet the requirements under this section at the time of initial
1.18construction of the Central Corridor light rail transit line and the appropriate station.
1.19EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
