1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to health; modifying a social work licensure provision;amending
1.3Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 148E.0555, subdivision 2.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.5    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 148E.0555, subdivision 2, is amended to
1.6read:
1.7    Subd. 2. Eligible agency personnel. When submitting the application for licensure,
1.8the applicant must provide evidence satisfactory to the board that the applicant is currently
1.9employed by a:
1.10(1) Minnesota city or state agency, and:
1.11(i) at any time within three years of the date of submitting an application for
1.12licensure was presented to the public by any title incorporating the words "social work" or
1.13"social worker," while employed by that agency for a minimum of six months; or
1.14(ii) at any time within three years of the date of submitting an application for
1.15licensure was engaged in the practice of social work, including clinical social work, as
1.16described in section 148E.010, subdivisions 6 and 11, while employed by that agency
1.17for a minimum of six months; or
1.18(2) private nonprofit, nontribal or tribal agency whose primary service focus
1.19addresses ethnic minority populations, and the applicant is a member of an ethnic minority
1.20population within the agency, previously exempt from licensure under Minnesota Statutes
1.212010, section 148D.065, subdivision 5, and section 148E.065, subdivision 5, and:
1.22(i) at any time within three years of the date of submitting an application for
1.23licensure was presented to the public by any title incorporating the words "social work" or
1.24"social worker," while employed by that agency for a minimum of six months; or
2.1(ii) at any time within three years of the date of submitting an application for
2.2licensure was engaged in the practice of social work, including clinical social work, as
2.3described under section 148E.010, subdivisions 6 and 11, while employed by that agency
2.4for a minimum of six months.
