1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Thai Minnesotan community as they welcome the Most
1.3Venerable Somdej Phramahathirachan to the 2024 Minnesota Songkran
1.4Festival.
1.5WHEREAS, Wat Promwachirayan of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, will be hosting the
1.6Minnesota Songkran Festival at the Minnesota State Capitol grounds on May 18, 2024; and
1.7WHEREAS, the celebration of the Songkran Festival serves as a testament to the rich cultural
1.8heritage and traditions that are integral to diverse Minnesotan identities; and
1.9WHEREAS, the Most Venerable Somdej Phramahathirachan, member of the Sangha Supreme
1.10Council of Thailand and abbot of Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn
1.11royal temple in Bangkok, will be leading some of the most important rituals performed during the
1.12Songkran Festival; and
1.13WHEREAS, the Most Venerable Somdej Phramahathirachan provides unwavering dedication,
1.14wisdom, and compassionate leadership in guiding the Thai Minnesotan community in observance
1.15of the Songkran Festival and embodies the spirit of enlightenment and unity that this auspicious
1.16occasion represents; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18congratulates the organizers of the Minnesota Songkran Festival and extends gratitude to the Most
1.19Venerable Somdej Phramahathirachan.
1.20BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.21enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.22Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Thai Cultural
1.23Council of Minnesota.
