1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the Goetzke family farm of Monticello, Minnesota, on being named
1.3a Minnesota Century Farm.
1.4WHEREAS, Minnesota agriculture accounts for $57.5 billion in sales and more than 147,000
1.5jobs and contains family farms that form the foundation of Minnesota agriculture, drive Minnesota's
1.6economy, and maintain the vitality of rural communities; and
1.7WHEREAS, the Century Farm program honors Minnesota families that have owned their
1.8farms for at least 100 years and that are at least 50 acres; and
1.9WHEREAS, since the program began in 1976 more than 10,000 Minnesota farms have been
1.10recognized; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Goetzke family farm is approximately 189 acres and has been operating
1.12since 1917 farming corn, hay, grain, and soybeans; and
1.13WHEREAS, for its recognition as a Century Farm the Goetzke family will receive an outdoor
1.14sign designating the farm as a "Century Farm" and a certificate signed by the governor and presidents
1.15of the Minnesota Farm Bureau and Minnesota State Fair; and
1.16NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.17congratulates the Goetzke family farm and recognizes its contributions to Minnesota's agriculture
1.18industry.
1.19BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.20enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.21Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Goetzke family
1.22farm of Monticello, Minnesota.
