1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Byron High School for receiving a 2010 National Blue Ribbon
1.3School Award.
1.4WHEREAS, those schools that uphold the highest standards of excellence in education are
1.5deserving of special recognition; and
1.6WHEREAS, each year since 1982, through the Blue Ribbon Schools Program, the United
1.7States Department of Education has honored public and private elementary, middle, and high
1.8schools where students attain and maintain high academic goals; and
1.9WHEREAS, schools honored with the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award are among an elite
1.10group of 304 schools that are committed to achievement and to ensuring that students learn
1.11and succeed; and
1.12WHEREAS, during an awards ceremony held in Washington, D.C. on November 15-16,
1.132010, Byron High School was presented with a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School Award by
1.14United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; and
1.15WHEREAS, a Blue Ribbon School Celebration, featuring a representative from the United
1.16States Department of Education, will be held at Byron High School on Wednesday, January 5,
1.172011; NOW, THEREFORE,
1.18BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it congratulates Byron
1.19High School on receiving a 2010 National Blue Ribbon School Award, and extends best wishes to
1.20the entire Byron High School community for the future.
1.21BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.22an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
1.23the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.24Byron High School.
