1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating Taylor DeForrest of the Apple Valley High School girls
1.3hockey team on setting the state record for number of saves in a game.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Apple Valley hockey team played East Ridge in the 2016 State High
1.7School Class 2A, Section 3 girls hockey tournament on February 3, 2016; and
1.8WHEREAS, Taylor DeForrest, a junior goalie for the Eagles, saved an incredible 111 out
1.9of 114 shots in a game that lasted six overtimes; and
1.10WHEREAS, while East Ridge finally won 3-2 in the sixth overtime, Taylor shattered the
1.11previous state record of 59 saves in an overtime game, a tremendous accomplishment deserving
1.12of special legislative recognition; and
1.13NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.14congratulations are extended to Taylor DeForrest of the Apple Valley High School girls hockey
1.15team for her sportsmanship and skill.
1.16BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.17enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.18Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it Taylor DeForrest.
