1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing the Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association on over 35 years of
1.3providing sports and recreation opportunities for youth.
1.4WHEREAS, local organizations that provide community benefits to youth are deserving of
1.5special legislative recognition; and
1.6WHEREAS, one such local all-volunteer organization is the Anoka Ramsey Athletic
1.7Association, a nonprofit formed in 1979 with the mission of providing guidance, equipment, and
1.8fields for youth in the Anoka-Ramsey area to participate in sports; and
1.9WHEREAS, the association embodies the volunteer and community-driven spirit of local
1.10nonprofits, as its parents, coaches, and board members contribute countless hours of volunteer time
1.11organizing programs in baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, wrestling, tennis,
1.12and soccer, including organizing a recently added outdoors-focused program; and
1.13WHEREAS, the association's programs in 2017 helped 3,800 children pursue athletic
1.14recreation and the competition and opportunity for growth that participating in sports engenders;
1.15and
1.16WHEREAS, the association has been successful in providing opportunities to youth of all
1.17incomes and exposing them to positive role models and life lessons that will sustain and guide them
1.18throughout their lives; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.20congratulates the Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association on its sustained success in giving local youth
1.21the opportunity and support to participate in sports and recreation programs.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.23enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.24Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the Anoka Ramsey
1.25Athletic Association.
