1.2honoring the Minnesotan contingent of the world champion U. S. junior
1.3ice hockey team
1.4WHEREAS, the United States national junior ice hockey team defeated team Sweden 3-1
1.5on January 5, 2013, to win the gold medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior
1.6Championship at the Ufa Arena in Russia; and
1.7WHEREAS, the medal is the third in four years, and second gold, for the U. S. junior
1.8team; and
1.9WHEREAS, the gold medal team naturally has connections to Minnesota, the state
1.10of hockey; and
1.11NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.12it congratulates head coach Phil Housley, assistant coaches Grant Potulny and Mark Osiecki,
1.13defenseman Mike Reilly, and forward Mario Lucia on becoming world champions.
1.14BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.15enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.16Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Phil Housley.
