1.1A Senate resolution
1.2commemorating the 100th anniversary of Bemidji Woolen Mills.
1.3WHEREAS, our state and local communities benefit from the presence of local businesses
1.4that have withstood the test of time and a 100-year anniversary is cause for celebration; and
1.5WHEREAS, Bemidji Woolen Mills was founded by Ira Preston Batchelder in Bemidji,
1.6Minnesota, in 1920; and
1.7WHEREAS, the store has weathered the Great Depression, wars, and an always-changing
1.8economy while maintaining a rich tradition of providing heirloom-quality wool goods in a traditional
1.9retail setting; and
1.10WHEREAS, Bemidji Woolen Mills is now run by the founder's great-grandson, Bill
1.11Batchelder, marking the fourth generation of the family business; and
1.12WHEREAS, after a century of operation, Bemidji Woolen Mills remains a staple of Bemidji's
1.13historic downtown business district; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.15congratulates Bemidji Woolen Mills on their 100th anniversary of conducting business in the state
1.16of Minnesota.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Bill Batchelder.
