1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing Nolan Myers as the 2021 Apollo Award recipient.
1.3WHEREAS, athletic and academic accomplishments are worthy of legislative recognition;
1.4and
1.5WHEREAS, the Apollo Award is annually awarded to outstanding male high school
1.6student-athletes in recognition of their achievements in academics and athletics; and
1.7WHEREAS, Nolan Myers is a senior at Hastings High School where he maintains a 3.83
1.8GPA, is a Link Leader and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle Leader, and a member of the
1.9National Honor Society; and
1.10WHEREAS, Nolan has earned 12 varsity letters as a participant in cross-country, wrestling,
1.11and track and field; and
1.12WHEREAS, in cross-country, Nolan served as captain for two years, earned three
1.13All-Conference Awards, and was twice awarded Most Valuable Runner; and
1.14WHEREAS, in wrestling, Nolan served as captain for two years, qualified for the individual
1.15state meet, participated on state tournament teams, and was named Academic All-Section; and
1.16WHEREAS, in track and field, Nolan was named captain and participated in multiple events;
1.17and
1.18WHEREAS, Nolan will be honored at a site-based recognition ceremony at Hastings High
1.19School in the spring of this year; and
1.20WHEREAS, Nolan plans to attend South Dakota State University where he will study
1.21Wildlife and Fisheries Science; and
1.22NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.23congratulates Nolan Myers on receiving the 2021 Apollo Award and extends him best wishes for
1.24the future.
1.25BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.26enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.27Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Nolan Myers.
