1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring Elaina Hamann of Columbia Heights on being named a Prudential Spirit of
1.3Community Award 2011 Distinguished Finalist.
1.4WHEREAS, the strength and vitality of our communities, our state, and our nation depend
1.5on the will to serve others; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards honor young volunteers across
1.7America who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and
1.8WHEREAS, Elaina Hamann, a senior at St. Anthony Village High School, organized the
1.9donation of more than $30,000 worth of art supplies for disadvantaged schoolchildren, providing
1.10them with paper, wood, brushes, pencils, crayons, and paint; and
1.11WHEREAS, Elaina Hamann was named a Distinguished Finalist for the Prudential Spirit
1.12of Community Awards, one of eight students in Minnesota honored by Prudential for commitment
1.13to improving her community; and
1.14NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.15it recognizes the dedicated altruism of Elaina Hamann and congratulates her on being named a
1.16Prudential Spirit of Community Award Distinguished Finalist for 2011.
1.17BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.18enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.19Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Elaina Hamann.
