1.1A Senate resolution
1.2honoring the life of Ronald John Lindner of Brainerd, Minnesota.
1.3WHEREAS, Ronald "Ron" John Lindner was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1934 to Arthur
1.4and Estelle Lindner. He grew up on the city's northwest side with his younger brother and only
1.5sibling, Al; and
1.6WHEREAS, Ron and Al developed an early love for fishing at their grandmother's cabin in
1.7Hayward, Wisconsin. Their love of fishing eventually grew into a tackle business which found its
1.8humble beginning in Ron's parents' basement and eventually became a pillar in the North American
1.9sport fishing industry; and
1.10WHEREAS, Ron was a hard worker and self-described daydreamer who was known for his
1.11astonishing work ethic. As a salesman, fishing guide, inventor, educator, storyteller, outdoors
1.12pioneer, and ambassador for the sport, fishing was a core part of Ron's existence for much of his
1.13life; and
1.14WHEREAS, in addition to development of cutting edge bait implements, Ron and Al launched
1.15a production company with a focus on fishing-related advertising, promotional films, videos, and
1.16a television show, "Lindner's Angling Edge"; and
1.17WHEREAS, those who love Ron described him as brilliant, with a wild imagination and
1.18near-obsessive focus. Ron believed that anything was possible when it came to fishing and his
1.19passion contributed to the betterment of the sport; and
1.20WHEREAS, Ron and his loving wife Dolores were married on June 2, 1956, and together
1.21raised four boys, Bill, Jim, Dan, and Mike, and three girls, Kim, Dawn, and Lisa, on Gull Lake;
1.22and
1.23WHEREAS, Ron passed away on November 30, 2020, at the age of 86 with Dolores at his
1.24side. In addition to his wife and children and his brother Al, Ron is survived by 12 grandchildren
1.25and four great-grandchildren; and
1.26NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.27honors the life of Ronald John Lindner and extends deep condolences to those who knew him.
1.28BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.29enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.30Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the family of Ronald
1.31John Lindner.
