1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the DeLaSalle High School boys basketball team on winning the 2017
1.3State High School Class AAA boys basketball championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the DeLaSalle basketball team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.72017 State High School Class AAA boys basketball tournament on March 22-25, 2017; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Big Lake 55-47 in the quarterfinals and Columbia Heights 86-60
1.9in the semifinals, they defeated the Austin Packers 72-44 in the final game of the tournament at
1.10Target Center to win their sixth consecutive state championship; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Islanders finished the season with an outstanding 27-3 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.13congratulations are extended to the members of the DeLaSalle High School boys basketball team
1.14for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.16enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.17Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of
1.18DeLaSalle High School.
