1.1A Senate resolution
1.2recognizing March 25 as Women in Agriculture Day.
1.3WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota proudly recognizes that Minnesota farmers have always
1.4fed not only our state, but the country and the world; and
1.5WHEREAS, the 2017 census reported that in Minnesota 48 percent of farm operators and
1.630 percent of all farmers under the age of 35 are women; and
1.7WHEREAS, in addition to farm operators, women are making a difference across Minnesota
1.8in research and development, manufacturing, sales and distribution, agricultural education,
1.9agribusiness, and advocacy, which extends benefits to individuals across the globe; and
1.10WHEREAS, women who are instructors, leaders, and professionals in the agricultural field
1.11deserve to be celebrated for their efforts in fostering the next generation of the agriculture workforce
1.12by promoting STEM and agricultural education and entrepreneurial and community initiatives; and
1.13WHEREAS, Minnesota recognizes the significant positive impact women in agriculture
1.14have on food resources and the agricultural workforce; and
1.15WHEREAS, Minnesota celebrates the old and new ways in which women's energy and
1.16determination are helping to keep our agricultural system strong; and
1.17NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that it
1.18recognizes March 25 as Women in Agriculture Day.
