1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Thief River Falls Prowlers Girls Hockey team on winning the
1.32015 Minnesota State High School Class A Girls Hockey championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles
1.5of sportsmanship and fair play; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Minnesota State High School League has 244 schools, in 121 programs,
1.7participating in girls high school hockey, and the tournament is in its 21st year; and
1.8WHEREAS, the Thief River Falls Prowlers made their first appearance in school history in
1.9the 2015 Minnesota State High School Class A Girls Hockey Tournament on February 18-21,
1.102015; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Prowlers entered the tournament as the number one seed, and defeated
1.12two-time defending champion Blake 3-1 in the final game to win their first girls hockey state
1.13championship; they finished the season with an outstanding record of 26-1-3; and
1.14WHEREAS, Coach Whitney Restemayer was the first female coach to win a Minnesota
1.15state hockey championship, and the Prowlers set a state record for most shots on goal during
1.16regulation (58) in a single state hockey game; and
1.17WHEREAS, a new attendance record was set at the 2015 tournament, with 21,365 fans
1.18attending Class A and Class AA games at Xcel Energy Center and Ridder Arena; and
1.19NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.20congratulations are extended to the members and coaches of the Thief River Falls Prowlers Girls
1.21Hockey team for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.22BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare
1.23an enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of
2.1the Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to Laine Larson,
2.2Superintendent of Thief River Falls Public Schools.
