AN ACT
To amend chapter 9, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the designation of Cesar E. Chavez day.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Chapter 9, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 9.175, to read as follows:
9.175. The governor shall annually issue a proclamation setting apart March thirty-first as "Cesar E. Chavez Day", and recommending that it be observed by the people with appropriate exercises in the public schools and otherwise in memory of the civil rights leader and founder of the first successful farmers' union in the United States, the United Farm Workers (UFW) union which was organized to fight for social and economic justice for migrant farm workers and Latinos.
