AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO IS A VETERAN OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES SHALL BE ALLOWED TO PARK A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CHARGE AT ANY AIRPORT OR AIRPORT PARKING PROPERTY OR FACILITY IN THIS STATE IF THE PERSON PROVIDES EVIDENCE THAT HE OR SHE IS A VETERAN AND THE PERSON IS THE DRIVER OF OR A PASSENGER IN THE MOTOR VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF EXITING THE AIRPORT OR AIRPORT PARKING PROPERTY OR FACILITY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Subject to the provisions of this section, a person who is a veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States shall be allowed to park a motor vehicle without charge at any airport and/or airport parking property or facility in this state. In order to so park a motor vehicle without charge, a person must provide evidence that he or she is a veteran and the person must be the driver of or a passenger in the motor vehicle at the time of exiting the airport or airport parking property or facility. Evidence of a person's veteran status may include (i) a copy of a DD-214 form, (ii) a Report of Separation from Military Service, (iii) a military discharge document, (iv) a valid military identification card, (v) a United States Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Identification Card, (vi) a United States Department of Veterans Affairs Identification Card, (vii) a National Guard Form NGB 22, (viii) a written certification of military service from the State Veterans Affairs Board, and/or (ix) if the person holds a Mississippi driver's license, a "Vet" designation on the license pursuant to Section 63-1-35(4), Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2025.
