AN ACT TO DEFINE THE TERM "BIODIESEL" FOR PURPOSES OF PRESCRIBING SPECIFICATIONS AND THE QUALITY OF BIODIESEL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. For purposes of prescribing specifications for the quality of biodiesel, “biodiesel” shall mean a fuel comprised of mono-alkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from vegetable oils or animal fats, designated as B100, and meeting the requirements of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D6751 standards. A biodiesel blend is a blend of biodiesel fuels meeting the ASTM D6751 standards with a petroleum-based diesel fuel, which is designated “Bxx”, with “xx” representing the volume percentage of biodiesel fuel in the blend.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its July 1, 2012.
