House Bill 1208
AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE BOARD ON LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING TO PROMULGATE REGULATIONS TO REQUIRE CERTIFICATION OF K-9 LAW ENFORCEMENT TEAMS IN THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training shall promulgate regulations to require certification of K-9 law enforcement teams in the State of Mississippi. The board shall require certification and continuing education in accordance with the United States Police Canine Association or the North American Police Work Dog Association, and any other certifications the board deems appropriate.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
