AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FUNDING FOR THE STATEWIDE LITTER PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH FUNDS MAY BE SPENT ONLY ON FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPROVED AND DISBURSED BY KEEP MISSISSIPPI BEAUTIFUL, INC.; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Department of Transportation for the purpose of providing funds for the Statewide Litter Prevention Program, for the period beginning July 1, 2023, and ending June 30, 2024..................$5,000,000.00.
SECTION 2. The funds appropriated under Section 1 of this act may only be spent on financial assistance approved and disbursed by Keep Mississippi Beautiful, Inc., in accordance with Section 65-1-165(f), Mississippi Code of 1972.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
