AN ACT TO REPEAL SECTION 65-3-38.1, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH REQUIRES A 10-YEAR PERIOD AFTER LEAVING OFFICE BEFORE NAMING A HIGHWAY, ROAD, STREET OR BRIDGE AFTER AN ELECTED OFFICIAL AND REQUIRES A RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE LOCAL GOVERNING BODY BEFORE THE LEGISLATURE MAY ENACT LEGISLATION NAMING ANY HIGHWAY, ROAD, STREET OR BRIDGE ON THE DESIGNATED STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM AFTER ANY PERSON; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  Section 65-3-38.1, Mississippi Code of 1972, which requires a 10-year period after leaving office before naming a highway, road, street or bridge after an elected official and requires a resolution adopted by the local governing body before the Legislature may enact legislation naming any highway, road, street or bridge on the designated state highway system after any person, is repealed.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
