House Bill 1508
AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 27-43-9, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, WHICH REQUIRES THE CHANCERY CLERK TO ENTER INTO THE TAX SALE BOOK THE CLERK'S EXAMINATION OF RECORDS FOR LIENS AND NOTICES TO LIENORS FOR LAND SOLD DUE TO THE NONPAYMENT OF AD VALOREM TAXES, TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH RECORDS MAY BE MAINTAINED ELECTRONICALLY IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER PHYSICAL DOCKET, RECORD OR BOOK; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Section 27-43-9, Mississippi Code of 1972, is amended as follows:
27-43-9. Upon completing the examination for said liens, the clerk shall enter upon the tax sale book upon the page showing the sale a notation to the effect that such examination had been made, giving the names and addresses, if known, of said lienors, the book and page where the liens are created, and the date of mailing by registered mail the notice to the lienors. If the clerk finds no liens of record, he shall so certify on said tax sale book. In each instance the clerk shall date the certificate and sign his name thereto. Any records required to be kept by this section, Section 27-43-3 or any other section of this chapter may be maintained electronically in lieu of any other physical docket, record or book.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2019.
