House Bill 1568
AN ACT MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCE TO IMPLEMENT THE MISSISSIPPI HEALTHY FOOD AND FAMILIES PROGRAM ESTABLISHED UNDER HOUSE BILL NO. 555, 2022 REGULAR SESSION, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The following sum, or so much of it as may be necessary, is appropriated out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, to the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce for the purpose of providing funds for the implementation of the Mississippi Healthy Food and Families Program established under House Bill No. 555, 2022 Regular Session, for distribution of those funds to participating Mississippi farmers markets, produce stands and food retailers for healthy food incentives in order to increase the purchasing power of Mississippi residents with limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables, as provided for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023............................... $ 700,000.00.
SECTION 2. The money appropriated by this act shall be paid by the State Treasurer out of any money in the State General Fund not otherwise appropriated, upon warrants issued by the State Fiscal Officer; and the State Fiscal Officer shall issue his or her warrants upon requisitions signed by the proper person, officer or officers in the manner provided by law.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2022.
