AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE GOVERNING AUTHORITIES OF THE CITY OF CHARLESTON, MISSISSIPPI, TO PAY MICHAEL SIMMS A CERTAIN AMOUNT FOR ACTUAL AND MEDICAL COSTS THAT ACCRUED DUE TO HIS ASSISTING A CITY POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS ACTING IN HIS OFFICIAL DUTIES; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The governing authorities of the City of Charleston, Mississippi, are authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to pay Michael Simms, out of any available city funds, an amount equal to but not to exceed Six Thousand Nine Hundred Dollars ($6,900.00) for actual and medical costs and the cost of drug expenses accrued in October 2017 as a result of his assisting a City of Charleston police officer who was acting in his official duties.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from
and after its passage.
