House Bill 1686
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF NATCHEZ AND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ADAMS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO EACH PROVIDE CERTAIN FUNDING ON AN ANNUAL BASIS TO NATCHEZ, INC., A NONPROFIT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION; TO REPEAL CHAPTER 913, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 2002, WHICH CREATES THE NATCHEZ-ADAMS COUNTY DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY; TO PROVIDE THAT ALL PROPERTY AND ASSETS HELD BY THE AUTHORITY SHALL BE TRANSFERRED TO NATCHEZ, INC.; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Natchez, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in their discretion, to provide funding in an annual amount not to exceed One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) on a fiscal year basis each year for the city's fiscal years 2010 through 2014, from any available funds of the city, to Natchez, Inc., a Mississippi nonprofit corporation organized for economic purposes.
SECTION 2. The Board of Supervisors of Adams County, Mississippi, is authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to provide funding in an annual amount not to exceed One Hundred Sixty-five Thousand Dollars ($165,000.00) on a fiscal year basis each year for the county's fiscal years 2010 through 2014, from any available funds of the county, to Natchez, Inc., a Mississippi nonprofit corporation organized for economic purposes.
SECTION 3. Chapter 913, Local and Private Laws of 2002, which creates the Natchez-Adams County Development Authority, is hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. Any funds currently held or received by the Natchez-Adams County Development Authority from any source prior to June 1, 2010, and any and all equipment, furnishings and any other personal property assets, documents or files of the authority shall be transferred to Natchez, Inc., on or before June 1, 2010.
SECTION 5. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after June 1, 2010.
