House Bill 176
AN ACT TO REQUIRE DRUG TESTING OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHO KILLS A PERSON; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. Any law enforcement officer who kills a person shall take a drug test immediately after the incident. The drug test shall be performed by a laboratory independent of the jurisdiction for which the officer is employed. The results of the drug test shall be submitted to the Attorney General, the District Attorney of the Circuit Court District in which the law enforcement agency for which the officer is employed is located and the Bureau of Investigation of the Department of Public Safety.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2014.
