House Bill 1771

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO MATTHEW MCBRIDE, OF TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Matthew Henry McBride, of Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for theft of property on January 30, 2013, in Rutherford County, Tennessee, for which he was sentenced to six (6) years probation.  The Legislature is informed by the Tennessee Department of Corrections that he has "successfully completed his supervision and his sentence term has expired."  The Tennessee Department of Corrections has informed the Legislature that Mr. McBride "does not have any other Tennessee felony convictions and has satisfied" their supervision requirements. 

     The Mississippi Department of Corrections has informed the Legislature that Mr. McBride has not committed any crimes in the State of Mississippi. 

     The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
