AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE HATTIESBURG CONVENTION COMMISSION TO UTILIZE THE DESIGN-BUILD METHOD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTING; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Hattiesburg Convention Commission, as created by Chapter 952, Local and Private Laws of 1991, is authorized, in its discretion, to use the design-build method of construction contracting for any convention and tourism-related facilities that are under the jurisdiction of the commission utilizing the procedure set out under Section 31-7-13.1, Mississippi Code of 1972.

     (2)  This section shall not alter or amend Chapter 952, Local and Private Laws of 1991, as last amended by Chapter 976, Local and Private Laws of 1994, which pertain to the Hattiesburg Convention Commission.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
