House Bill 602

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT HOLDING STATE FUNDED SEMINARS AT ANY LOCATION THAT DOES NOT PAY STATE INCOME TAX; TO PROVIDE CIVIL FINES FOR VIOLATIONS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  No seminar which is funded by public funds may be held at any location of any business, association or any other entity that does not pay state income tax to the State of Mississippi.  The prohibition described in this section shall apply to all seminars regardless of the subject matter or profession.

     (2)  Violations of this section shall be punishable by a civil fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for a first offense and by a civil fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for a second or subsequent offense.     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2010.
