A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MR. KIRK GAVIN LADNER AND EXPRESSING DEEP SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, Mr. Kirk G. Ladner went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 5, 2017, at the tender age of 48 years old, causing great sorrow to his family and friends; and

     WHEREAS, born to Dr. George and Jane Ladner, Kirk attended the University of Mississippi for his undergraduate studies and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi School of Law; and

     WHEREAS, after law school, he returned to Jackson to practice with longtime friends, Bobby Gill and Jamie Priest, and soon met the love of his life and wife, Lynn; and

     WHEREAS, he was a man held in the highest regard by friends and family as an inspiring and precious gift from God, whose legacy will continue to refresh the hearts and memories of his beloved and treasured survivors:  wife, Lynn and their two daughters, Zoe and Ava; and

     WHEREAS, a passionate and dedicated father to his two daughters, Kirk coached their softball and basketball teams; and

     WHEREAS, a true man of Godly faith who sought to lead a Godly life by example, he volunteered at his church, Christ United Methodist Church, where he led weekly bible study groups; and

     WHEREAS, "If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord, so whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord," and Kirk lived his life with the understanding that he could live in eternity with God; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to honor the lives of Mississippi citizens who led a Godly life and set a positive example for others:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby mourn the loss and honor the life and legacy of Mr. Kirk Gavin Ladner and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Kirk Gavin Ladner and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
