A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE AND SERVICE OF MR. JIMMY BISHOP AND EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY UPON HIS PASSING.
WHEREAS, "To everything there is a season, and time to every purpose under the Heaven," thus the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny summoned Mr. Jimmy Bishop to his heavenly rest on January 3, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jimmy Bishop was honorably serving as Fire Chief of the Rienzi Volunteer Fire Department when he passed this life to be with his heavenly father; and
WHEREAS, a man of bravery, he served for 38 years alongside his fellow volunteer firefighters as a member of this distinguished band of brothers, and the last 10 years of his service was spent as the Chief of this beloved group of men; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Rienzi with a servant's heart, he served as a diligent member of the Rienzi Board of Aldermen for 12 years and was always anxious to hear the needs of his constituents and improve his community; and
WHEREAS, in spite of his busy schedule with the fire department, Mr. Bishop still found time to voluntarily serve with the Rienzi Rescue Squad and the Rienzi Lions Club; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bishop was also a supervisor at Corinthian Furniture, where he was supervisor of employees and the manager of store sales; and
WHEREAS, a God-fearing Christian, Mr. Bishop attended Bethel Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, to cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife, Caffie; one son, Joe; mother, Geneva; sister, Arlene; and a host of nieces and nephew; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize such an outstanding citizen as Mr. Bishop who has traversed the river of life to reunite with those who answered God's summons to life eternal, the legacy of his brave volunteer service and citizenship will not be forgotten:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do commend the life and service of Mr. Jimmy Bishop and extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished Mrs. Caffie Bishop and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
