A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING JOHN CRAVEN FOR BEING SELECTED BY THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF SECONDARY SCHOOL PRINCIPALS AS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR.
WHEREAS, John Craven, an assistant principal at Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi, has been selected by the Mississippi Association of Secondary School Principals as Assistant Principal of the Year; and
WHEREAS, believing that such an honor can only be bestowed upon an individual who has the opportunity to work with stellar colleagues, Mr. Craven attributes this special recognition to the teachers he works with at Pearl High School, conceding that his job would not be possible without the teachers; and
WHEREAS, a veteran educator and coach with 20 years experience before he began working at Pearl High School, Mr. Craven attributes the success of Pearl High School to the dedicated faculty and administration that have been blessed to be a part of the family of Pearl High School; and
WHEREAS, a mentor and a friend, Mr. Craven prides himself in the students who return to Pearl High School and express their gratitude for his dedication and meaningful contributions to their lives while students; and
WHEREAS, remembering lessons from his parents, Mr. Craven strives daily to ensure that each student understands that integrity, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a good education are the recipe for success, and that life's trials and tribulations can be overcome through hard work; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Craven will travel to Washington, D.C., in April to represent Mississippi at the National Association of Secondary School Principals' awards banquet; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Craven has been supported in his journey of leadership and devotion to improving the lives of his students by his wife, Cathy, and their two children; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize dedicated and enthusiastic educators, such as Mr. John Craven, who constantly exhibits the values of an exceptional mentor and teacher:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. John Craven upon being selected by the Mississippi Association of Secondary School Principals as Assistant Principal of the Year, and extend sincerest wishes for success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Craven, Pearl High School and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
