A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING WILLIAM AND BARBARA DEASE ON THE CELEBRATION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.

     WHEREAS, William and Barbara Dease, who are residents of Jackson, Mississippi, celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss on April 2, 2010; and

     WHEREAS, this blessed couple met at the intersection of love and happiness in Atlanta, Georgia, and were united in holy matrimony on April 2, 1960, in Raleigh, North Carolina; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. William Dease, who has been a lifelong resident of Mississippi, is a graduate of Morehouse University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he later worked as the Registrar and the Dean of the Admissions, Records and Financial Aid Department; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Barbara Dease, a native of North Carolina, is a graduate of North Carolina Central College, holds a master's degree from Clarke College and a doctor of philosophy degree from Florida State University; and

     WHEREAS, knowing the importance of a good work ethic and providing for his family, Mr. Dease served in the United States Army, was employed with Clarke College, Boeing Company, Jackson State University, Jackson Public Schools and H&R Block; and

     WHEREAS, while creating a loving home environment for her family, Mrs. Dease also exercised a good work ethic by teaching at Spelman College, the University of Southern Mississippi, Rust College, and currently serves as freshman studies teacher at Tougaloo College; and

     WHEREAS, as evidenced by their many endeavors, this dynamic duo shares a multitude of talents, and are committed to many community service endeavors, as well as being devoted to church activities; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dease are blessed to have two beautiful children:  Mitzi Elayne and William K. Dease II, and are the proud grandparents of six young Mississippians; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend such outstanding Mississippians, as William and Barbara Dease, as they celebrate their Golden Anniversary and set an excellent example of what love and commitment truly mean:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate William and Barbara Dease on the special occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend best wishes for many more years of happiness, faith and love.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to William and Barbara Dease and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
