A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MR. WAYNE ULRICH OF LONG BEACH MIDDLE SCHOOL IN LONG BEACH, MISSISSIPPI, FOR BEING NAMED AN EXTRAORDINARY EDUCATOR FOR 2021 BY CURRICULUM ASSOCIATES.
WHEREAS, Curriculum Associates created the Extraordinary Educators program to celebrate and connect Best in Class teachers from across the nation; and
WHEREAS, the 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators includes an elite group of 44 kindergarten through Grade 8 educators from across the country who illustrate growth and achievement via formal assessments, demonstrate classroom innovation and engagement practices for students, are evangelists for high standards and student achievement, and exhibit best-in-class use of i-Ready and/or Ready instructional resources designed by Curriculum Associates in their classroom; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wayne Ulrich, of Long Beach, Mississippi, was named as an inductee of the 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators, as he personifies the ideals that Curriculum Associates set forth with the program; and
WHEREAS, a middle school mathematics teacher at Long Beach Middle School, where he also serves as coach for the school girls' volleyball and boys' basketball and baseball teams, Mr. Ulrich exemplifies a tremendous work ethic and a very strong sense of values that make him an outstanding role model and passionate educator; and
WHEREAS, throughout the course of his tenure of interacting with his students, Mr. Ulrich makes it a priority to stress the importance of respect, self-pride, encouragement and dedication, as his approach to educating his students is not just centered upon arithmetic curriculum, but also in how to be successful in life as a person of integrity who is valuable to society; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ulrich believes data is a vital component of teaching, as evidenced in his statement, "The data from benchmark assessments, Standards Mastery, and the student's Individual Learning Plan guide the instructional process in my classroom."; and
WHEREAS, as an inductee into the 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators, Mr. Ulrich has received recognition locally and nationally, in addition to having gained access to a network of peers from around the country, earned professional development opportunities, and the opportunity to attend the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit in Boston, Massachusetts; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence in the accomplishments and remarkable service of educators of Mr. Ulrich's exceptional caliber, who have tirelessly and selflessly devoted their lives to imparting light and knowledge into the bright scholars of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mr. Wayne Ulrich of Long Beach, Mississippi, for being named as an inductee of the Curriculum Associates 2021 Class of Extraordinary Educators and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all of his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Wayne Ulrich and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
