A RESOLUTION COMMENDING MAYOR ANDRE' DEBERRY ON HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE AS MAYOR OF HOLLY SPRINGS, MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, Mayor Andre' DeBerry has honorably served the citizens of Holly Springs over the years; and
WHEREAS, in 1989, he was elected as Alderman-at-Large for Holly Springs and served in that position for three terms and went on to be elected Mayor of Holly Springs on June 5, 2001 and has served in that position for three terms; and
WHEREAS, not only has he served as mayor, he is an ordained minister in the Baptist Church, is a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and serves as a member trustee of the Board Youth Council; and
WHEREAS, he is very active in his community as a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., the Holly Springs School District PTA, of which he has served as president for seven years, the Board of Directors for North Mississippi Industrial Development Association, the National Conference of Black Mayors, the Mississippi Conference of Black Mayors, the Mississippi Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials; and
WHEREAS, he has been lovingly supported by his wife, Beautye, three children, Chiquita, Rasheed and LaKenya, and two grandchildren, Alvisha and Marcus; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the outstanding service of a local leader, such as Mayor Andre' DeBerry; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Mayor Andre' DeBerry on his many years of service as Mayor of Holly Springs, Mississippi.
BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mayor DeBerry and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
