A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE DEDICATION OF CARLTON REEVES AND COMMENDING HIM UPON BEING NAMED BOARD MEMBER OF THE YEAR BY THE MISSISSIPPI WORKERS CENTER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.
WHEREAS, Carlton Reeves has served on the Mississippi Workers Center for Human Rights' Board of Directors for the past four years as a dedicated member, serving in the dual role of treasurer and legal advisor; and
WHEREAS, as a strong community advocate, Mr. Reeves has used his considerable talents to help the center achieve its goals and objectives established in its mission; and
WHEREAS, his advice, counsel and support have been invaluable assets afforded to the center, and as he now concludes his tenure as a member of the center's board of directors, he is saluted for his work ethic and his commitment to the cause of equality and human rights for all; and
WHEREAS, this commitment makes Mr. Reeves one who walks in the steady and ever-abiding footsteps of Fannie Lou Hamer; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the selfless dedication of an individual of Mr. Reeves' tenacity and caliber, who has devoted his time, energy and resources to championing the causes for which he believes:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby, in honor of the Ninth Annual Black History Month Celebration, join the Mississippi Workers Center for Human Rights in recognizing and saluting Carlton Reeves as Board Member of the Year, and extend best wishes on this auspicious occasion.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mr. Reeves and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
