A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MRS. VERA LOIS COLEMAN ON CELEBRATING THE MOST FESTIVE OCCASION OF THE 73RD ANNIVERSARY OF HER BIRTH ON MARCH 11, 2016.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Vera Lois Coleman, born Vera Lois King, in Troy, Alabama, on March 11, 1943, to parents, LeeArtis Bean and Henry King, and she received her formal education from the Hattiesburg Public School District and the Pearl River Community College; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Coleman was enamored by the chivalry and affection of the gentleman who became her husband, Mr. Jimmie Coleman Sr., who was her soul's companion for 43 years and with whom, through their union, raised four daughters: Jennifer, Erica, Denise and Tonya; three stepchildren, Jimmie Jr., Barbara, Ricky; and one adopted son, Toriano, who were raised in love to embrace the immeasurable promise of their spirituality; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Coleman dedicated her life to Christ at an early age when she joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, before she later united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she remains a faithful member in fellowship today; and
WHEREAS, her commitment to Christ led directly to her involvement with and participation in the Pastor's Aide Society and the Usher Board; and
WHEREAS, she provided 28 years of service at Trustmark National Bank and won 1st place in the March of Dimes with Trustmark National Bank, raising the most money three years in a row and she also served with uncompromising skill as a wedding planner and floral designer; and
WHEREAS, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Mrs. Coleman has garnered a reputable rapport as a loyal and dependable friend to many, bringing comfort to the sick and bereaved with a kind word, a phone call, or one of her famous pound cakes; and
WHEREAS, the immeasurable impact on her family, friends, community and church, has forged Mrs. Coleman an indelible legacy of selflessness, of caring for others and bettering her community; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend the life of such an outstanding individual as Mrs. Coleman, who has brought joy and love to the lives of many, as she celebrates this joyful occasion with her family and friends:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Vera Lois Coleman, in commemoration of the 73rd anniversary of her birth on Friday, March 11, 2016, and express sincere wishes of continued health, joy, peace and prosperity for years to come.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Vera Lois Coleman and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
