A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MRS. MARY ANNA NELSON FOR HER EFFORTS IN BRINGING AWARENESS TO PARKINSON'S DISEASE AND FOR HER PARTICIPATION IN THE 2020 MISSISSIPPI BLUES HALF MARATHON.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Anna Nelson of Columbus, Mississippi, has devoted much of her time to serving those in her community and beyond by bringing a focused awareness to the public about Parkinson's disease, and she will be participating in the 2020 Mississippi Blues Half Marathon on February 29, 2020; and
WHEREAS, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's herself in December 2018, Mrs. Nelson has been fueled by a tireless desire to educate others and advocate for more research and advances in care and treatment in the fight against this debilitating disease; and
WHEREAS, outside of her increasing advocacy and tremendous dedication to this very worthy and distinguished cause, Mrs. Nelson and her husband, Mr. David Nelson, have both been a part of Mississippi's public education system for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, with her outstanding disposition, Mrs. Nelson is a selfless imparter of hope, life and light, and she certainly exemplifies the virtues of perseverance and dedication to her community and her cause, inspiring all of those around her to strive for excellence each day; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to commend outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Mrs. Nelson, whose dedication and service to her community brings honor to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize and commend Mrs. Mary Anna Nelson for her efforts in bringing awareness to Parkinson's disease and for her participation in the 2020 Mississippi Blues Half Marathon.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Mary Anna Nelson and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
