A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NEW ALBANY HIGH SCHOOL "BULLDOGS" TENNIS TEAM AND HEAD COACH SUZY BOWMAN FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (MHSAA) 4A STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, the New Albany High School Tennis Team and Head Coach Suzy Bowman completed their 2021-2022 season with an impressive 21-6 record and reigned supreme throughout the playoff series to become the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A State Champions; and
WHEREAS, the Bulldogs, who had a superior season that was driven by more than just the yearning to succeed, intensely amplified all of their hard work, motivation and audacity, which were so apparent all through the season, for the ultimate tennis match, where they edged out their opponent and collected the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 4A Tennis Championship; and
WHEREAS, in addition to winning the state championship, the Bulldogs were also named the 2-4A District Champions, a true testament to their year-round hard work and unparalleled athleticism; and
WHEREAS, the New Albany High School Bulldogs, who played with nothing but heart and soul all season, have a very talented and distinguished roster that is comprised of the following talented athletes: on the Girls Team, Natalie Creekmore, Gracie Mason, Sarah Robbins, Heidi Clayton, Lilly Stout, Eva Aldridge, Caurie Clayton, Julianna Scott, Kylie Jo Dains, Addi Owen, Ambrianna Shorter, Prarthana Patel, Miracle Hurd and Nayeli Pech; and on the Boys Team, John David Nelson, Joseph Durrett, Conner Greer, Colin Williams, Will Boyington, Wright Miskelly, Brayden Langley, Carter Ladner, Ethan Jackson, Sam Derrick, Matthew Durrett, Gregory Nelson, Mac Blackburn, Bradyn Bowman, Everett Garrett, Hunter Henson, Jacob Christ, Benjamin Tirado, Alan Ortega, Joseph Smithey, Brayden Garrett, Kidd Bennett, Charlie Mac Rowan and Chanapon Weaver; and
WHEREAS, each player made a substantial contribution that led to a very remarkable season in the history of the New Albany High School Tennis Program, and individual state championship winners included boys doubles champions, John David Nelson and Joseph Durrett, boys doubles finalists, Gregory Nelson and Will Boyington, girls doubles finalists, Sarah Robbins and Gracie Mason, mixed doubles champions, Everett Garrett and Natalie Creekmore, and girls singles finalist, Heidi Clayton; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Suzy Bowman has superbly coached and inspired the Bulldogs and broadened their knowledge of the game while refining their skills in execution, and she continues to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student-athletes such as the New Albany High School Bulldogs Tennis Team, who have brought honor to their school, the New Albany community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the New Albany High School "Bulldogs"
Tennis Team and Head Coach Suzy Bowman for winning the Mississippi High School Activities Association 4A State Tennis Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach Suzy Bowman and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
