A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING BAY HIGH SCHOOL CHEERLEADING SQUAD UPON PLACING 2ND IN THE CONTEST OF CHAMPIONS CHEERLEADING NATIONALS.
WHEREAS, the Bay High School Cheerleading Squad overcame adversity, persevered through hardship and achieved high acclaim, earning second place at Cheerleading National's Contest of Champions; and
WHEREAS, throughout the 2015-2016 season, the Bay High School Cheerleaders provided mesmerizing performances, demonstrating originality, technical proficiency and unmatched levels of dedication; and
WHEREAS, performing in Orlando, Florida, the team confronted its greatest challenge yet, and while facing extraordinary competition, the team was forced to alter their routine, leaving little time to perfect its many intricacies; with pure determination, the team put its best foot forward and provided an excellent performance, earning 2nd place in the national competition; and
WHEREAS, in the face of these impediments to greatness the Bay High School Cheerleading Squad rallied behind its fearless leader, Head Coach Courtney LaFontaine, who led the team to the national championship in only her third year of coaching at Bay High School; and
WHEREAS, the Bay High School Championship roster includes: Ariane Helsel, Shelby Oliver, Metri Lyons, Marion Pohl, Daley Bell, Kaitlyn Chaisson, Ka'derryah Luckett, Lauren Russell, Robert Williams, Jade Coleman, Leah Grainger, Danica Gilbert, Morgan Ulrich, Baylie Cornfoot, Taylor Bentley, Heather Moss, Camaryn Bush, and Keely Jones, who earned a "Wow Award" for her outstanding performance during the competition; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding achievements of young students such as the Bay High School Cheerleading Squad, who distinguished themselves in competition, and in so doing have brought great pride to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Bay High School Cheerleading Squad upon earning 2nd place in the Contest of Champions Cheerleading Nationals, and extend best wishes to the team and coach for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Courtney LaFontaine, Bay High School Athletic Director Will Seymour and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
