 A RESOLUTION HONORING THE LIFE OF MR. MARVIN H. "BOBBY" CALDWELL AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HIS PASSING.

     WHEREAS, a longtime Alcorn County School Board member, Mr. Bobby Caldwell served 36 dedicated years on the board and committed countless hours educating the community about the conditions of the school district; and

     WHEREAS, he served on the board six terms, with each term  consisting of six years each, from 1970-2006; and

     WHEREAS, Kossuth High School is especially grateful for the life of Mr. Caldwell because they, along with the community, credits him with starting the Kossuth High School Band and helping them purchase their first uniforms; and

     WHEREAS, his dedication to the school was so sincere, he continued to help the Kossuth High School Band raise funds even after he retired from the Alcorn County School Board; and

     WHEREAS, although Kossuth held a special place in his heart, he was committed to helping all children, "He was one of the few who didn't care who got the credit as long as the kids got their due.", stated fellow board member, Supervisor Jimmy Tate Waldon; and

     WHEREAS, as further evidence of his faithful service to the school district, in March 2007, Representatives Harvey Moss, Rickey Cummings and Billy McCoy authored a resolution in Mr. Caldwell's honor for his faithful service on the Alcorn County School Board; and

     WHEREAS, outside of his duties on the board, he was a 32nd Degree Mason who was not only well-known for cooking the best Brunswick stew in the area, but was active with the Shiners, Scottish Rites, Eastern Star and York Rites; and

     WHEREAS, a dutiful man of faith, he was a lifelong active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, whose love for his church was shown in his many acts of service to the church; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the life and legacy of Mississippians such as Mr. Bobby Caldwell, who seek to improve the lives of our children who are our future:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby honor the life of Mr. Bobby Caldwell and express deepest sympathy to his family and friends upon his passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mr. Bobby Caldwell and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
