A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE LIFE OF MRS. ELLETHA M. LEWIS AND EXPRESSING DEEP SYMPATHY UPON HER PASSING.

     WHEREAS, it is written in Ecclesiastes "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, the grand architect of the universe, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny, has summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved, Mrs. Elletha M. Lewis, to eternal rest, as she has made life's final transition from earthly travailing to heavenly reward, rendering great sorrow and loss to her family, colleagues and friends; and

     WHEREAS, born to the late Alonzo and Ethel Lee Mack of Rolling Fork on January 29, 1947, as the apple of their eye and much to their delight and joy, she was an inquisitive child; and

     WHEREAS, as a child, she sought the things of God and accepted Christ into her life at an early age while attending Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Eugene Montgomery; and

     WHEREAS, as an adult, she was a God-fearing Christian who relied heavily on her faith which motivated her to remain an active servant of the Lord throughout her life, joining Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church later in her life, where she diligently served on the Usher Board for over forty years; and

     WHEREAS, Elletha attended Henry Weathers High School, where she graduated in 1968; and

     WHEREAS, her outgoing personality and intelligence were assets during her professional tenure at MPI Industrial, where she spent many dedicated years until she began working at Allstate Insurance Company, where she also flourished; and

     WHEREAS, to cherish her memory, she leaves her son, Walter; son-in-law, William Manning; nine grandchildren, Meana, Camilla, William, Kennedy, Jaylen, Anfernee, Miguel, Benjamin and Briaunna; five sisters, Aletha, Ella, Emma, Everlyn and Louella, one adopted sister, Louella; four brothers, Alonzo, Lee, Robert and A.J.; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends; and

     WHEREAS, while on this earth, she loved and treasured her husband, the love of her life, Walter Lewis, Sr., until his untimely passing; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to honor the contributions of our citizens such as Mrs. Elletha M. Lewis, who work hard in their careers and strive to preserve and nurture their families:

     NOW, THEREFORE, ON BEHALF OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend the life of Mrs. Elletha M. Lewis and express deep sympathy upon her passing.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to the family of Mrs. Elletha M. Lewis and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
