A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST RANKIN HIGH SCHOOL COUGARS CHEERLEADING TEAM FOR WINNING THEIR SECOND CONSECUTIVE UCA LARGE VARSITY DIVISION I GAME DAY CHEERLEADING NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
WHEREAS, proving hard work and diligence are the keys to success, the Northwest Rankin High School Cougars Cheerleading Team competed against 1,200 other squads in the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship, and after a flawless and electric performance, they won their second consecutive UCA Large Varsity Division I Game Day Cheerleading National Championship; and
WHEREAS, under the insightful and accomplished leadership of Coaches Marilyn Hebert, Amelie Goss, Johnny Taylor and Caitlin Lohman, the Cougars did an exceptional job of rehearsing their cheers and routines, unifying all of their strengths to make a good squad and ultimately executing an outstanding job working toward the accomplishment of this highly pursued goal; and
WHEREAS, throughout this special season, the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleaders worked extremely hard to succeed, and the members have improved exponentially in all aspects of their cheerleading abilities, and due to their outstanding God-given talent, strong desire to win and tremendous work ethic, they completed their competition season with an undefeated record, a truly phenomenal accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, on their way to winning their second consecutive national title and completing their undefeated season, the Cougars were named the Mid-South Regional Large Varsity Game Day Champion (score: 97.2), the Magnolia Regional Large Varsity Game Day Champion (score: 95.7) and the Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Cheer Competition Class 6A Game Day Champion; and
WHEREAS, during the MHSAA Cheer Competition, the Cougars scored the highest, with a 99.1 out of 100, out of all of the classifications, 1A through 6A, which is also higher than the team scored last year; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Northwest Rankin High School Cheerleading Team, who constantly impress with their sincere displays of professionalism and self discipline, include: Seniors, Jaci Arrington, Gracie Gardner, Reanna Green, Caleigh Hennington, Swayze McMinn, Ivori Spencer and Maddie Welburn; and Chloe Angulo, Anna Marie Axton, Aubrie Barr, Myla Beck, Kinsley Bledsoe, JaKaylon Bouldin, Bree Bowling, Samantha Bryant, Anna Lauren Calvert, Anna Claire Davis, Lilly deGruiter, Raven Hodges,
Marley Hutchison, Carsyn Lyles, Chloe Miller, Zoe Robin, Kinsley Strawbridge, McKenna Whitt, McCarley Wier and Kenli Wray; and
WHEREAS, the Cougars Cheerleaders have practiced and worked together for many hours in the pursuit of greatness and have shown a high degree of sportsmanship while representing the State of Mississippi at all levels of competition, and through their superior accomplishments, these Magnolia State student-athletes have brought honor to themselves, their families and to Northwest Rankin High School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend outstanding student-athletes such as the Northwest Rankin High School Cougars Cheerleading Team, whose superb attitudes and unparalleled determination to reach their championship goal brought honor and glory to Northwest Rankin High School and to the State of Mississippi:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Rankin High School Cougars Cheerleading Team for winning their second consecutive UCA Large Varsity Division I Game Day Cheerleading National Championship, and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coaches Marilyn Hebert, Amelie Goss, Johnny Taylor and Caitlin Lohman and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
